Authors' Notes

"Closing Time" was originally done by Rob Williams Jnr for SDcompo round 2.

So, against all odds, I actually submitted a track this round. For a while, it was looking like I wasn't going to be able to. Basically, I wish my theme idea hadn't been chosen right now because we just had a baby this past monday, thus -- very little time to work on this.
This has always been one of my favourite songs to come out of the competition, I encourage you to please go listen to Rob's great original.

So I had a lot greater plans for this, but time ran out and I wanted to at least have SOMETHING to show for this round... So I present to you, a very very shoddy acapella. I figured I would spare your ears and not try to do the entire thing of this complex song, and stop while I was still ahead. LOL
P.S., when I got about 5 minutes free to work on this song earlier today, right after I had recorded the beat, I ran down the hallway back into my computer room, and bumped my foot into the bookshelf, and broke my goddamned right pinkie toe. It was all bent the wrong direction ... So ... All things considered, it is a miracle you are even hearing anything right now :) Ahhh the pain we endure for the sake of music :)

:) Thanks RWJ ...

Just for full disclosure - If you get a message about the decabuddy plugin when opening my track, I accidentally left that in my device chain but it is NOT in use... It was an accident :( more info here --

You left the line-in devices on so I got a nice bit of mic feedback when I opened the track .. but no worries, it's understandable that you were rushed. Better something than nothing, and I hope your toe isn't hurting too much!

Anyway, your singing isn't bad; though slightly off-key at times, it's somehow endearing. I especially liked your beatboxing.

Good idea and enjoyable method. Sounds like everything was made by accapella (I just listened the rendered mp3).

Well done for entering this time buddy given your busy schedule.
Actually quite funny! In a good way ;)
Banging toe. Ooohhh it's amazing how much this can hurt.
Did it help with the singing at all...... . . . ?

Wow. I love your idea of the a capella. And you have done it so well, that I needed to hear the original.
I think that the original of #2 was really underrated pretty much. Probably because of the lack of some technical issues :-?
Very good melodies in this song. I can understand that you love it so much.
Good job fresh daddy :-)

I'll second Airmann, great idea entering with acapella, not a genre we get to hear often at SDCompo. Although short, it's still enjoyable and a fun addition to the entries. Very nice job!
