wow, totally natural in the beginning, later on you experiment - get's slightly weird. Nonetheless this has lots of nice elements and is very musical. Like of course the guitar. Good usage of the flute. Mix has a pretty strong hissing noise in the first part of the song. Will have a look at XRNS.
Nice one !

the acoustic guitar comes across beautifully. how did you record it? I like the techniques you used in the pattern editor, but sometimes I think they would be more effective if placed better. Sometimes it sounds like a gallery of experiments. Albeit really nice sounding experiments :)
favorite moment: 0:59, pattern 10 when the piano has those 2 low notes. when i heard this i was like "YEA!"

I second (or "third" ) the above speakers. sometimes weird, sometimes natural - especially the guitars and drums.
Have to listen some more because there's so much in it :)

I recorded the guitar (and this might explain the hissing noise) with a cheap 'computer' mic, like one that would come with a laptop (one step away from one attached to a headset).
I threw a rough render into sonic foundry's vegas, played along with it, and put markers at every half measure or so, then cut it up into samples.
To compensate for lack of two mics (and because i like the sound of doing it) I played the same parts twice and hard panned the takes left and right.
I meant to cut the sample rate in half (to shrink file size) from 44,100, but I resampled the guitar at 22,500 (which i was impressed that renoise handled it well, it not being a standard sampling rate)...instead of 22,050.
Much of the tune was done under the influence of sleep deprivation.
I started the song weeks ago thinking 'good, I'll have plenty of time to work on this' and ended up waiting until the day before deadline to go back to it.
I tried to sleep before I had to get up the next day, ended up thinking about what I wanted to do, saying 'I'll nap then get up and work on it before i have to go out', which came out to staying awake in bed all night until 3 hours before i had to get up and leave for the day.
Thank you for your comments,
I'm still learning (and experimenting) with Renoise, and I appreciate the feedback!

Experimental. For my taste the used elements were too different, they made conflict.

Doubled guitar is not an unusual technique: a friend of mine does that for his pop music. Since those little mics are condenser mics, I (and he) would suggest putting it at around fret 12 (so you get all the hand movement noise) and put the result through a fat compressor. The result sounds like a Cat Stevens or Al Stewart record.
This reminds me of some .MOD classics like FOUNTAIN.MOD http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=40748) or a certain Mick Rippon classic http://modarchive.org/module.php?42872) with broken beats and a clean mix to keep it modern. I like the piano melody that sets up the last section of the song.

Very nice! Really like the floating atmosphere in the beginning, very airy. The progression into drums and leads work well.
Just two complaints. The overall feel diminishes a bit around 1:37, becomes a bit messy. And, the high end on drums after 2:14 is too much for me.

Chotoro, check this link out - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWj1WLhoR0A
It's Mick Rippon playing that song live on a nylon string guitar.
He put it up pretty recently.
Thanks for the input!
