Hey lowpass... Welcome to the compo! I just added you on soundcloud... Interested to check out your tracks there soon.
You've done some nice oldschool sounding jungle/d&b here.. Really takes me back to the days when I first started listening to d&b in about 1997. Solid beat, bass, and production... Although I think it could use some more variation with the beat. Also I think overall the mix is a little too bright. The snare sounds too 808'ish and doesn't quite have that d&b "punch"... But that may just be a matter of personal preference.. :)
Cool to hear some more instrumentation coming in at the end... I think you could have worked with this part a lot more and done some thematic variation.
Still, overall a nice song and I look forward to hearing more entries from you!
Strangely I just noticed your song is the same length as chunter's this round. Odd :)
Peace

Hi there!
Nice solid track, wouldn't be a problem to mix this into a liveset, although a bit late now in 2011 ;)
What a pity though cause dancing to D'n'B brings me back good memories... sometimes i wish time wouldn't run that fast and D'n'B culture would still be around :P
Technically I agree with organic_io that the mix is too bright and there could be more variations or something unexpected that would make the track unique.
Anyway... nice work, makes me dance :)

Hey lwpss,
welcome to Compo :-D
nice classic hoover bass sound.
Regarding mix: High frequs are piercing my ears a bit.

Yeah the high frequencies are getting to my ears too. Bass sound is great! Expert reshuffling of the different ideas to create new textures, nice. Feels like it ends half way through a bar which is a bit unsettling? Was that intentional? Transition from pattern 8 to 9 is superb, the addition of the quick little loop adds some vitality to the standard d n b template. To me it just needs a some sort of hook (a melodic vocal? A lead at some point? I dunno) to really make this stand out, but it does what you set out to do nicely.

Hello hello. Welcome to the compo. Like organic io says a nice oldschool feel. I'm disliking the high frequencies as Airmann. The bass is awesome and the beat takes me back a few years.
