Greetings everyone, back after a hiatus!
It seems either my ears are out of touch, or I just have too much filter action going on, but I couldn't figure out a good mix. Nevertheless, hope it's punchy enough!

Hey Frej... I haven't looked at the xrns, but to my ears the mix sounds just fine! (Personally I'd turn up the hihats but that may just be a preference thing)
Always a treat listening to your songs. This has some really unique melodies and progression, but it's all very coherent and listenable. I think I'll need to listen to it a bunch more times to really understand what's going on here :) I love the ending too, the swell is lush and wonderful. Really well done.
Keep it up!

I like squeaky slidy synths, I really do. Unfortunately I feel like in this piece they are robbing a lot of definition from the piece, making it sound somewhat muddy. It is cool to listen to but I feel that the slidy resonent filtered synths are robbing this piece of some of the power it could have.

I agree with Shadowbane, the slidy's are a bit over the top at some point. Ignore that and the song reveals some great atmospheric sound.

I gotta say it: the rhythm reminds me of "The Final Countdown" by Europe.
Such thick beautiful pad voicings. I listened to the whole track just the pads and enjoyed it surprisingly well. Could make a nice bonus track on the CD.
Love the playful lead. The slides I think are a welcome break from grid-like tracker music, and completely tasteful.
Though this is not a flashy cadillac of a song, it has subtlety and wisdom.

Just a quick self-comment re: mixing, I feel the drums vs. pads don't balance out that well, not on headphones nor on speakers, but in different ways on each. Drums blast too loudly on my speakers, but on the other hand the pads and filter sweeping is too much on my headphones. Rather confusing.. some experimentation might resolve the conflict.

I like the slow build-up on this one, and I like the somewhat disconnected feel of the piece. By that I mean that it has a kind of remoteness, so I can enjoy the music without feeling like its intruding so much. I like the instruments you've selected or crafted (haven't looked at .xrns yet...), a lot of expression in this one.

it was a real pleasure to listen to that tune - thx :)

I think this track just needs different mixing. sort out levels on certain sounds that cloud others and a stronger discipline on the filtering. the drum track is a bit too static after listening a few times... Make that a bit more organic and the track will benefit immensely... Otherwise there's so many different parts that interact whithin the frame of your theme ... I don't know how to explain this but I hear simillarities to like.. AIR, Final Fantasy, Doskpop, easy-listening jazz and alot more that I cannot put the finger on.... I really enjoyed it...

The nice airyness and harmonic pads are very nice. I think a little reverb on the snare would have blended in fine, but that's just my own taste.
stange and funny little Birdie :) nice one.

Europe want their hook back. It's well-composed, though. ;)
I took a peek at the drums, the only thing I can think of that would improve the mix would be to play around with substituting the drums a little...
All-in-all this mix is probably as good as it can be without going too crazy over it.
The melodies and harmonies in this are very good.

oh yeah, harmony and melody are back in town :). Like the pad and lead sound. The mix at 1:21..1:59 sounds totally warm, wow great. The jumping-nintendo-like sound fx are interesting. Good stuff.

Got some nice fancy modulations going on here. The melody really remind me of something... Daft Punk maybe? It's reminiscent, and paired with a well thought out harmony. Very nice.
